Big Pharma earns BILLIONS off cancer drugs

Sign up NOW for FREE to attend the online Natural Cancer Prevention Summit, beginning May 16th!

Last year, the cancer industry was valued at $100 billion, and is predicted to reach $147 billion in sales by 2018, according to data released by the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the average monthly costs for cancer patients now exceed $10,000.

Though exorbitant, the amount of money being made off cancer is not surprising, as the price of cancer drugs has reached an all time high. The world’s fourth largest pharma company, Sanofi, may soon acquire San Francisco-based drug-maker Medivation, Inc. for its lucrative prostrate-cancer drug, which costs patients about $129K per year.

Cancer treatment earnings are expected to soar even higher, as more and more people fall victim to the disease. Each year, upwards of 14 million Americans will be told they have cancer, and roughly 7.6 million will die from the disease.

Big Pharma eyes lucrative cancer drugs

Though clearly an epidemic that deserves immediate action, pharmaceutical companies only see dollar signs.

While this harsh reality makes the situation appear hopeless, there is a silver lining: The majority of cancers can be prevented. Experts suggest that only about 5 to 10 percent of cancer diagnoses are genetic, meaning people have a lot more control over their health than they realize.

The National Cancer Prevention Summit, available free online May 16-23, teaches registrants how to ward off cancer through a healthy lifestyle.

Dozens of natural health professionals, including naturopaths, activists and authors, will give their best advice for preventing cancer. Featured topics include information on how to limit exposure to environmental toxins, boosting your immune system using essential oils, and how your metabolism can both create and defeat cancer.

The summit is hosted by Razi Ann Berry, publisher of the award-winning journals Naturopathic Doctor News & Review, The International Journal of Naturopathic Medicine and preventive health resource Natural Path.

“Razi Ann Berry’s personal journey from illness to health 15 years ago led her to a career in natural health publishing. She has spent the last decade engaging the leaders in natural and preventive medicine through a global dialogue about what truly protects health and creates wellness.”
